BioUtah Announces Headline Speakers for the 2023 Mayer Brown Utah Life Sciences Summit

The summit will welcome distinguished keynote speakers on the forefront of science and industry, including Joseph Smith, Chief Scientific Officer, BD; Nicole Lambert, Chief Operating Officer and Former President, Myriad Genetics; Lesley Stolz, Vice President, Early Innovation Partnering, Johnson & Johnson Innovation; and Jeffrey E. Salt Lake City - October 25, 2023 - BioUtah, Utah’s trade association serving the state’s life sciences community, announced today an impressive line-up of speakers who will present at this year’s 2023 Mayer Brown Utah Life Sciences Summit, November 9 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, in Salt Lake City.

Keynote speakers will cover the range of sub-sectors that makeup Utah’s life sciences ecosystem - from medical technology and diagnostics to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals:

  • Joseph Smith, chief scientific officer at BD, will take center stage to discuss the future of medical device innovation. 
  • Nicole Lambert, chief operating officer and former president of Myriad Genetics, will join Andrea Kendell, chief financial officer for bioMerieux North America, for a riveting conversation about Utah’s diagnostic landscape.
  • Lesley Stolz, vice president for Early Innovation Partnering at Johnson & Johnson Innovation, will be interviewed by David Bearss, PhD, chief executive officer at Halia Therapeutics, about the world view of pharmaceutical innovation.

In addition, Jeffrey Shuren, MD, JD, director of FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, will host a live-streamed question and answer town hall meeting. Utah Governor Spencer Cox will also be on hand to help open the summit.

As one of the fastest growing life sciences hubs in the nation, Utah’s industry accounts for $22.6 billion in GDP and approximately 180,000 jobs.
