BioUtah Applauds Pitch Competition Winners at the 2023 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit

nView Medical was honored as the first place winner of the Pitch Competition at the 2023 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit, presented by BioUtah and the University of Utah Partners for Innovation, Ventures, Outreach & Technology (PIVOT) Center.
Birch OS was awarded runner up. These Utah companies were selected from a total of six local companies that presented their innovative technologies to a distinguished panel of judges.

Salt Lake City- March, 21, 2023 - BioUtah today applauds nView Medical and Birch OS, the winner and runner up, respectively, of the Pitch Competition held March 16 during the 2023 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit (E&I Summit). The E&I Summit, presented by BioUtah and the PIVOT Center, brought together Utah’s life sciences industry and the investor community for a full day of content-rich programming for entrepreneurs.

Cristian Atria, CEO of nView Medical, pitched on the virtues of the company’s imaging technology. The technology integrates imaging, tracking and AI technologies to augment the surgeon’s understanding of the surgery, providing intraoperative planning, guidance and quality control.

Steve Madsen, director of supply chain with Birch OS, pitched on behalf of the digital health company, which has developed the first Pharma ERP built around serialization compliance. The system confirms serialization compliance, inventory compliance, licensing, payments, inventory management, CEO dashboards and more. 

nView Medical was awarded $5,000 while Birch OS received $2,000. Both received additional in-kind prizes, including services from Prime Path Medtech and Serfwerks, and a one year membership in BioUtah. 

Four other up and coming Utah life sciences companies pitched as part of the contest: 3Helix, Focused Therapeutics, Nanospot.ai and Phoenix PharmaLabs. A total of six companies, out of over 30 applicants, were initially selected to compete. A panel of five independent judges, with extensive industry experience, chose the winners.

The judges faced a difficult decision in choosing just two finalists. All applicants were offered the opportunity to present their pitch decks in a virtual Summit Pitch Hall.
