BioUtah Applauds Pitch Competition Winners at the 2025 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit

Four Utah life sciences companies were honored as winners of the Pitch Competition at the 2025 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit, presented by BioUtah and the University of Utah’s Technology Licensing Office.

Salt Lake City, Utah - March, 14, 2025 - BioUtah today applauds the four winning life sciences companies of its Pitch Competition held March 13 during the 2025 Wilson Sonsini Entrepreneur & Investor Life Sciences Summit (E&I Summit), presented by BioUtah and the University of Utah’s Technology Licensing Office (TLO). The winners were chosen from each of several categories, including medical devices/diagnostics, therapeutics and pharmaceuticals, and digital health and biotechnology. 

The category winners of the 2025 Pitch Competition, sponsored by Nusano, are:

Medical Devices and Diagnostics Group 1: Demeter

Medical Devices and Diagnostics Group 2: RefloDX

Therapeutics and Pharmaceuticals: Sethera Therapeutics

Digital Health and Biotechnology: Monere

Each of the winning companies received a $4,000 cash prize, along with services from marketing firm Serfwerks, and a one year membership in BioUtah. On stage to present the awards were Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah; Bruce Hunter, chief innovation officer at the University of Utah’s TLO, Matt Bresnahan, partner with Wilson Sonsini; and Alden Brown, Alliance Management Lead of Nusano.

“We congratulate this year’s award winners for their cutting-edge innovations and pioneering work to change patients’ lives,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah. “The judges faced a difficult decision in choosing the winners.” 

The shark-tank style competition featured twelve Utah life sciences companies selected from an initial group of 37 applicants. Presenters were divided into four groups with pitches judged by a panel of three judges. 

The E&I Summit brought together Utah’s life sciences industry and the investor community for a full day of content-rich programming especially designed for entrepreneurs and startups. The Pitch Competition provides an opportunity for local healthcare innovators to showcase their novel products before industry experts, investors, and venture capital firms. 

All applicants were offered the opportunity to exhibit virtually or on site at the E&I Summit’s Innovation Hall.
