SALT LAKE CITY -– October 4, 2023BioUtah, Utah’s trade association dedicated to the life sciences community, today announced its 2023 Utah Life Sciences Summit presented by Mayer Brown. The Summit will be held November 9 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.

Attracting over 700 registrants, the Utah Life Sciences Summit convenes top life sciences leaders, experts and professionals to discuss important market trends, the regulatory landscape and strategies to promote innovation and advance the industry. As one of the fastest growing life sciences hub in the nation, Utah’s industry directly and indirectly accounts for $22.6 billion in GDP and approximately 180,000 jobs.

“This is our 14th year providing the life sciences community with a content-rich forum with interesting, timely and thought-provoking sessions,” said Andrea Kendell, chair of the BioUtah board of directors. "From companies large and small to the hospitals, service providers and market specialists who help make up our ecosystem, the Utah Life Sciences Summit is a focal point for healthcare innovation and the role we play in improving patients’ lives.”

An impressive lineup of speakers is scheduled, including:

  • Utah Governor Spencer Cox
  • Dr. Jeff Shuren, director of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health
  • Joseph Smith, chief scientific officer at BD
  • David Bearss, president and CEO of Halia Therapeutics interviews Ahmed Hamdy, CEO of Vincerx Pharma

“The lunch program is dedicated exclusively to face-to-face networking, which allows attendees to catch up with colleagues, make new contacts and exchange ideas,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah. “Whether you work in medical device manufacturing, diagnostics or biopharmaceutical development, the Summit has something for you.”

This year, the Summit also offers four special subject tracks:

  • Regulatory and Quality Track is designed for those who work in regulatory affairs, quality and compliance
  • Medical Device Track focuses on the development of medical devices and explores marketing strategies
  • Utah Track takes an in-depth look at Utah’s diagnostic and pharmaceutical sectors, patient stories and workforce issues
  • University Track presents research and programming related to life sciences from Utah’s top colleges and universities
