SALT LAKE CITY -– January 9, 2025 – BioUtah, Utah’s trade association dedicated to the life sciences community, in partnership with the University of Utah’s Technology Licensing Office, today announced that early-bird registration is now open for the 2025 Entrepreneur and Investor Life Sciences (E&I Summit) sponsored by Wilson Sonsini. The E&I Summit will be held March 13 at the Sheraton Hotel in Salt Lake City, followed by a ski day at Snowbird Ski Resort on March 14.

Attracting more than 400 registrants, the E&I Summit shines a light on Utah’s vibrant innovation ecosystem, convening entrepreneurs, investors, academic research centers, incubators, service providers and more. As one of the fastest growing life sciences hubs in the nation, Utah’s life sciences industry accounts for $22.6 billion in GDP and approximately 180,000 jobs.

“The E&I Summit is where Utah’s life sciences innovators and investors come together to discuss the capital landscape and promising new technologies and treatments emerging from the state’s impressive startups,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah.

Monica DiCenso, managing director and head of global investment opportunities group at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, will take center stage to shed light on the investment environment and outlook for the life sciences industry.

Earl “Eb” Bright, President of Exploramed and director of intellectual property policy at the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign will share his insights into the challenges and opportunities of founding a life sciences company.

Top-tier CEOs who have navigated the world of entrepreneurship will share their well-honed perspectives on the innovation journey from ideation to successful commercialization. 

Principals from national venture capital firms as well as leaders of Utah’s local investment community will examine what it takes for early-stage companies to attract capital. A dedicated networking session will provide attendees an opportunity to make valuable contacts. 

The E&I Summit will also hold an exciting Shark Tank-style pitch competition where life sciences companies will present their innovations to a panel of experts and investors. Presentations will be categorized into three groups: medical devices/diagnostics; pharmaceuticals/therapeutics and; biotechnology/digital health. The winner of each competition will receive a $5,000 cash prize, along with additional awards and recognition. Application information can be found on the E&I Summit website.

On March 14, attendees can continue their conversations on the slopes during a ski day and luncheon at Snowbird Ski Resort.
