“We had a tremendous response to our call for applications from our life sciences community,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO, of BioUtah. “The six companies that are advancing to the Pitch Competition, and every company that threw their hat in the ring, deserve recognition. They all reflect Utah’s proud tradition of discovery and entrepreneurship.”
Many of the companies not pitching in the competition are presenting in the virtual Pitch Hall, which is available through the Whova app being used for the Summit. The novel products being developed by these companies can be viewed using the app.
“The Pitch Competition will underscore the tremendous amount of healthcare innovation happening in Utah,” said Keith Marmer, chief innovation and economic engagement officer at the University of Utah. ”Our aim is to showcase our promising life sciences startups to local and national investors and ultimately help bring new treatments and cures to patients.”
The six companies will pitch live to Summit attendees, angel investors, and representatives from venture capital funds. Finalists will be selected by a panel of industry leaders and investor experts. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to close the Summit.
